SCOR RECREATION PROGRAM SCOR RECREATION PROGRAM ... is the most important program SCOR has to offer it's membership. Why?
Almost 100% of our Travel players, that have chosen to pursue the next highest possible level of play have been introduced to the game of soccer through the SCOR Recreation Program. The intent is to develop skills, tactical insight, the right attitude and athleticism regardless of what stage players are in. We owe our players an environment where our players can develop from an interested state, to an excited state and ultimately to a passionate state. A genuine passion for the game of soccer is the prerequisite towards becoming the best possible player and having the most fun they deserve. The small-sided game environment we introduce and use throughout the REC/REC+ programs allow us to make observations and coaching points without negatively effecting a more natural means of development. |
Observations: • Fun for a kid is an environment that is less structured with less instruction. Create an environment that encourages self-empowerment, creative play. Kids want to just play. • Let the game of soccer teach. Be patient! • Putting players in positions too early destroys their instincts. • An increased ability to make more decisions allows activities to be more complex. • Soccer is best learned by playing. Games / Activities need to be: 1) Free-flowing 2) Coach guided NOT Coach directed 3) All defend / all attack / all build-up Ingredients of a Practice Session: Ask one self … “What are the Objectives based on above observations?” 1) Environment: Create a size appropriate play area that looks like a rectangle with few or no cones. Scoring goals, defending and building up need to be addressed. Free flowing with many repetitions. 2) Game Realistic: Cooperative or competitive activities, 1v1, 2v1, 3v2 with direction, targets or goals. 4vs4 or 5vs5 3) Development: Keep players active, size of field, # of players, # of touches. |
